Beginner tip: Most new users should start with Bitcoin (BTC) first. Learn how wallets work, how fees work, and how to withdraw safely before jumping into random new coins.
Coinbase is a US-based exchange that many beginners use because it’s simple to set up and you can link a bank account to buy crypto quickly.
After you buy, consider moving long-term holdings to a wallet you control (see the section below).

Backup & Protect Your Cryptocurrency!
Coinbase can be a safe place to buy cryptocurrency, but for long-term holding we recommend storing your crypto in a wallet where you control the private keys
(like Electrum). That’s what people mean by: “Not your keys, not your coins.”
History has shown that exchanges and websites can be hacked, frozen, or shut down. Learn from the past: keep long-term funds in your own wallet, and keep your backups offline.
After you move crypto into your wallet: back it up immediately (seed / recovery phrase) so you never lose access in the future.
